Miia was frightened.
It wasn't a good feeling. For every scary thing that had happened to her since coming to Japan, none had truly rendered her as afraid as being boxed into a small room, a synthetic voice telling her she couldn't go home. At first she had thought she was being deported, and for what crime she didn't know. Ms. Smith surely would have come for her if that was the case, and her Darling would have fought for her, but as much as she called out...
As much as she called out, or banged her fists on the door, or beat her tail against the floor, Darling didn't come. Her love wasn't rescuing her in a blaze of gallant glory as he had when Draco had forced their advances on her, or when that terrible couple had harassed her, or when she had nearly drowned in Mero's pool.
He wasn't coming. He had to come for her, but he wasn't.
If she hadn't believed in him so strongly, it would have felt like a betrayal.
The most frustrating part was knowing the other girls were with him somewhere. Papi and her childish charm, Centorea and her quiet nobility, Mero and her subtle sensuality. They were with him and she wasn't, and if she wasn't there he may pick one of them as his bride. It made her teeth bare and her scales itch at the thought. She loved him the most, she was his first guest, she was the one who deserved to marry him.
By the time the door opened she had worked herself up into such a jealous frenzy that she nearly flew from her little prison, ignoring the little bits of machinery she had been instructed to take. She slid down corridors, thumped her tail in irritation over every second that passed in the elevator, and when the door slid open she all but bulleted down the next hallway, careless of where she was going.
No matter what that stupid voice said, she needed to find her Darling. And she needed to find him now.
[Miia has arrived, but is in some pretty strong denial. Find her anywhere on the station, frantically searching for the love of her life.]

"Hey, hey," he said, catching hold of her just as they collided so that neither of them would fall. "Are you okay? Are you...oh, ok. No pants. Tail. Interesting. Are you okay, though?"
no subject
Glancing from side to side her ears twitched. There were too many sounds, too many smells, and she couldn't hear or find her Darling anywhere. "I have to-- I have to find my Darling. We can't get married if I don't find him!" For all she knew Ms. Smith had already found out who had sent the threatening letter and Darling was selecting his bride. He could be marrying Mero for all she knew, right at that moment.
She couldn't let that happen.

New arrival. Great. She'd probably gotten out of quarantine and taken off running, only to be stopped by him. He could smell her panic and desperation, taste it like brine on the tip of his tongue- so stong it burned and made his mouth water.
"All right, all right, but you need to stop. I need you to listen to me. You're not wherever you came from and he's probably not here. And, sorry to break the bad news, but there's no going back," he said as gently as he could manage. "I'm Jack. Why don't you tell me your name?"
no subject
"Jack-san." She murmured, clutching at the simple shirt she had been covered with. She twisted the fabric between her fingers. "My name is Miia." She told him, worrying the fabric with her hands. "I have to find him. We're supposed to get married," she protested, slowly lowering herself from the defensive height she had pushed herself to. "I-- I can't-- we're meant for each other. I just know it. I can't marry him if he's not here."
no subject
"You know, people do turn up. He might come," he replied, offering her some hope, however futile. He had Ianto, after all. And Sabine had that guy, so it wasn't beyond reason. "But, Miia, you're not going to do any good charging around like a maniac. Why don't we get some tea and just breathe a little, okay?"
no subject
She was even willing to concede that it didn't need to be in Japan.
"I don't want to be alone," she admitted, twisting cautiously closer, her tail looping in around his feet but not quite touching. "I wanted to get married."
no subject
"Miia, there's no reason to think you're alone. Hey, you've got me," he said with a cheeky yet charming smile. He was tempted to touch her now that the brine taste had dissipated, but he thought better of it. As much as he would have meant it to be comforting he was all too aware even the most casual touch could be misconstrued.
"And, you know, maybe you're not getting married today, but that's okay, right? Come on, let's have some tea. There's a great little vendor just over there," he said, pointing to an open common area full of the safety of a crowd.

She nearly cooed and sighed at the lovely daydream, and her head tilted as she calmed.
"Tea," she agreed, her tail twitching and slowly uncoiling from the anxious knot she had wound herself into. Sliding closer she cautiously tucked her hand into the human's elbow so that he could lead her to his tea vendor. "Do I have to re-register, now?" She asked meekly. "I don't have any of my papers for the exchange."
no subject
"I think that having been in quarantine you're all the registered here that you'll need to be," he assured her. That seems like such a smal thing to worry about, but maybe it was a bigger deal where she was from.
"Come on. There's a vendor just down this way. I'll buy you a cup. But you'll be able to buy your own...to some degree. The chip in your hand has your credits."

Not, Alice thought, that there was anything wrong with sterility when it came to beasts like Bumby, or surgical suites, but in a home it left something to be desired. "Honestly," she said aloud as she emerged from the lift onto the ground level. "I'd even be glad to see the Cat in this--"
Goodness. Alice took a step back out of the way of the oncoming snakewoman. She smiled to herself to find that Futureworld had improved on the Queen. "I daresay the tail suits you better than the tentacles. Are you late, Your Majesty?" Even if they hadn't parted on the best of terms, it was almost reassuring to see her.

It was like he didn't exist.
So intent as she was, she almost passed the mad-eyed woman. At least until she realized she was speaking to her, and she whipped around to stare, her tail curling and coiling around her as she raised herself, ready to strike at the human if needed. "What?" She asked cautiously, clutching her hands to her chest as she wound into a careful ball, scales gleaming. "I don't--- I haven't-- I have to find my Darling. We're getting married."
no subject
But no. That made no sense. Lizzie had never liked any of her father's undergraduates. The Queen couldn't mean to marry one. "If he's not the Dollmaker, then who? I cannot help you find him without knowing who he is." She gave Her Majesty a cross look and folded her arms over her chest. "And don't tell me to look inside my mind, because I'm not in the mood."
no subject
"You're not making any sense," she decided, the tip of her tail twitching in agitation. "I just need-- I need to find my Darling. My Darling. Kimihito Kurusu. He's-- he's this tall," she raised herself and held out her hand to show the stranger. "With black hair and brown eyes. Handsome and warm. Kind. I have to find him before he can marry someone else!"
no subject
But now she thought it, there was a point. The Queen had more often made sense than not, of late, and the Cat spoke in riddles. Caterpillar had not always made sense, but he hadn't made nonsense either.
Alice studied the woman more closely and the differences between her and the Queen became apparent. "Oh! You're not she." But she did seem very like a being from her Wonderland. "Very well, I will help you with your quest. Where was your Darling last seen?"

So when a large snake..thing past her in the hallways, all she did was yelp in unflattering surprise.
no subject
Honestly, she couldn't stand for that.
So intent on finding him as she was, she almost didn't notice the young woman until she heard a yell. it was the first time since leaving that awful room that she took notice of anything outside of her urgency, and the squawk of surprise startled a similar one from herself as she whirled. "What," she blinked, clutching her hands to her chest and coiling herself tightly, scales rippling and gleaming. "Why are you yelling?"
no subject
"I'm sorry." She removed her gloves with her hands behind her back, although she wasn't necessarily eager to experience if she could even do something to this creature. "S-surprise. Just yelling in surprise, hon. There's nothing wrong here."
no subject
"Miss? Are you okay?" he asked as she closed in on him, hoping she she could hear him.
